Mutable Objects started out nodding to 1970s funk royalty, The Meters, Parliament, Funkadelic and Kool and the Gang, and then mutated into something considerably wilder. The mission now is fully improvised, polytonal, polyrhythmic funk, which they describe as broken funk for your imperfect existence. Brisbane based. Not a straight covers band and never pretending to be. For a venue or festival that wants musicians actually taking risks, this is one of the more interesting bookings going.
