OOMPA ROCKSTAR (German, Octoberfest, Polka Band)

Nirvana as a polka. Lady Gaga on tuba. Oompa Rockstar is a Sydney Oktoberfest band that plays the traditional German set, Beer Barrel Polka and the Chicken Dance included, then swerves into oompah versions of Bon Jovi, Katy Perry and, yes, Pink Pony Club. The band is three to five costumed players across clarinet and saxophone, accordion, tuba and drums, plus a big-voiced singer. There's a lot of audience participation, games and general silliness, and they've done the corporate Oktoberfest circuit for large companies as well as clubs, pubs, breweries and private parties. They can bring their own PA and lighting when a venue doesn't have it, which makes them an easy booking for a festival or a backyard.
