Phil Walleystack

Traditional Aboriginal song and dance sit alongside jazz, ballet and tap in Phil Walleystack's training, picked up at WAAPA and the National Aboriginal Islander Skills Development Academy. A Noongar man with connections to the Whadjuk, Yued, Ballardong and Wardarndi language groups, he built his first album, Strong, into a fully costumed stage show, and followed it in 2019 with a second album, Storytellah, co-written and produced by Malcolm Luker. His performing work has taken him to the United States, the Middle East, Germany, France, China, Indonesia and Malaysia, and his work also includes presenting and cultural advice on the NITV series Aussie Bush Tales. Beyond the stage, he co-authored the book Rocky and Louie and was a finalist in the West Australian of the Year Awards in both 2017 and 2018.
