Poseidon

A fifty metre swimming pool becomes the stage for this aerial production, built around a Greek myth of Athena and Poseidon locked in rivalry. Poseidon takes Athena's fire, war follows between the gods, and mortals set up a contest to bring the city back to peace. One performer dives from aerial tissue straight into the water below, while elsewhere a sailor is sent flying into the sea on a flying fox rig. Flying horses, a triple trapeze routine for Athena's handmaidens, cloud swing, aerial silks, an aerial ring and fire dancing round out an hour-long show, with laser effects, lit-up stilt walkers and live percussion layered through it. Sydney based, it debuted at Blacktown Aquatic Centre for the 2004 Blacktown City Council Festival. Staging calls for sixteen aerial and stilt performers, six crew and a ceiling at least eight metres high.
