Ras Minano & The Hope of Africa Band

Ras Minano started The Hope of Africa Band in Ghana in 2006. He lives in Adelaide now, and the band around him is a line-up of local musicians playing his original reggae, Afrobeats and world music: a horn section, African drum and percussion, and harmony vocals layered through it. In 2020 his song Africa Oseeyeii won the WAM Song of the Year Award in the USA in the World Music and Reggae category. It's conscious music played at high energy, and it works on a festival stage as well as it does at a function. Not many Adelaide bands sound like this one.
