River City Aces

River City Aces came together to fill a gap nobody else in Brisbane was filling: early jump blues and rhythm and blues, played properly. The repertoire runs 1935 to 1955, male lead vocal and harmony, drawing on Louis Jordan, Wynonie Harris, Louis Prima, The Treniers, Clarence Samuels and Bull Moose Jackson. Every member was picked for their roots in that music, and each one can tell you where it came from and what it turned into. That matters more than you'd think at a festival, where audiences increasingly want the story alongside the song. Old school grooves, tongue in cheek lyrics, serious playing.
