Ruby Zoontjens

An Elder Conservatorium jazz graduate, Ruby Zoontjens is an Adelaide vocalist with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance, voice as her specialty. Her influences run from Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder to Veronica Swift and Jazzmeia Horn, and you can hear it in the warmth and the range. She received the Helpmann Academy Award for Voice at A Night of Jazz, an evening where she also performed alongside bassist Linda May Han Oh, and she has worked with James Muller, Victor Gould, Sam Anning, Mark Ferguson and Lauren Henderson. Away from the club circuit she sings with the Royal Australian Navy Band at ceremonial and public events around the country, and she teaches voice. She fronts jazz bands, plays solo sets and takes cross-genre work.
