About this act
Vocals, keys and double bass. That's the whole of Scat Man Du, and the trio have been working Brisbane venues that way for over twelve years. Their sound leans acoustic, with funk, latin and chill-out grooves running through the jazz. They can sit at ambient dinner volume or push into groove-based territory later on, mostly through fresh readings of jazz standards rather than note-for-note copies. Corporate work, weddings and restaurant residencies make up the bulk of it. The Queensland Arts Council took them on as a touring act across 2004 and 2005, and in 2007 they played the Norfolk Island Jazz Festival supporting Vince Jones. Available for cocktail functions, birthdays and venue bookings.
