Sculptor

Sculptor is a group of Sydney musicians who've each done a lot of playing before turning up here. The core is a trio of keys, bass and drums, and it grows from there. Add singers, horns and brass and it starts moving toward big band territory. The repertoire comes out of a love of jazz in most of its forms, from Horace Silver and Bobby Timmons through to Yussef Dayes and Kamasi Washington. That range means the band can sit quietly under a corporate dinner or push a party along, depending on what the night wants. They play semi acoustic or amplified, with power needed for the latter. Trio, quartet or quintet, sorted in conversation beforehand.
