Silk Road Tribal Collective is a belly dancer from Brisbane, Queensland.
Swords, silk veils, fans and a balancing tea tray all turn up somewhere in this Brisbane collective's tribal bellydance sets, performed to a live soundtrack. The music side comes from The Firedrakes, playing oud, kemence, daf and dahola alongside guitar and the occasional guest vocalist, while the dance side draws two tribal bellydance groups together for a combined show. The sound leans toward the Middle East and the old Silk Road trade routes, with a touch of Romani and Gypsy flavour running through it. Past bookings include the Woodford Folk Festival, the Brisbane Fringe Festival and Multicultural Queensland's Welcome Fest.
