Smusko sits somewhere between jazz crooning, brooding indie rock and cinematic dark-pop, and the combination is genuinely unusual. There's Sinatra in the voice and something of Radiohead in the atmosphere around it, which makes for a set that feels old and current at the same time. The songwriting leans introspective. Sydney based, and on the way up. Best in a venue that can handle a bit of drama in the sound.
