Steve Barry

Steve Barry is a pianist, organist, composer and improviser based in Sydney, and a PhD candidate in composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He grew up in Auckland and started piano at four, then moved to Australia in 2009 and graduated with first class honours in jazz performance. The awards followed: the Bell Award for Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year in 2013, second place at the National Jazz Awards the same year, a BBM Travel Scholarship in 2011, a Freedman Fellowship nomination in 2016 and an APRA Professional Development Awards finalist place in 2017. His albums Puzzles and Steve Barry each drew four star reviews in The Australian. He performs across Australia, New Zealand and East Asia.
