Storyville

Formed in 1973 and still going, Storyville Jazz Band take their name from the New Orleans district where the music started. The line-up is traditional: usually six, with piano, banjo, tuba and drums holding the beat behind cornet, clarinet or sax and trombone. Whoever feels like singing, sings. They will strip back to four instruments if the room or the budget demands it, but no further, because below that the character goes. Clean melodies, a toe-tapping beat and a bit of earthy humour between numbers. They have played dances, weddings, BBQs, funerals, river trips, church services and ordinary pub gigs, in Australia, Japan and Europe. Suits weddings and functions of most kinds.
