Sydney Polynesian Dance cover a genuine spread of the South Pacific: Cook Island kaparima, ura pau and pe'e, Tahitian aparima and otea, Hawaiian hula kahiko and hula auana, Samoan faataupati and siva, and Maori haka and poi. The dancers themselves come from across the region, including the Cook Islands, Aotearoa, Tahiti, Rotuma, Samoa and Tonga, and getting each culture right is treated as part of the job rather than a detail. A popular floorshow runs 30 minutes with audience participation, five to eight female dancers, four to seven male dancers and a bank of drummers. Fire dancing, string band and Tahitian drummers can be added.
