Wide collars, platform shoes, crazy sunglasses and a horn driven groove. The Funk Syndicate are a Sydney band built to bring back the 1970s dance floor, the kind where nobody was watching and everybody was moving. Think Soul Train. The song list runs through Brick House, Cold Sweat, Sex Machine, Superstition, Higher Ground, Cissy Strut, Chameleon, Long Train Running, Billie Jean and Groove Is in the Heart. They play in three quarter hour sets, and they'll want front of house PA, five foldback monitors, a stage and lighting. Getting dressed up is encouraged. It's part of the show.
