Alt-country and cowboy western music from a Northern Beaches band, and the sound genuinely does transport a room somewhere dustier. The Mezcaltones have five studio albums behind them and a long history of venue and festival shows. Desert soul, tangy blues and pulsing rhythms is their own description, and it's about right. Sydney based, and a standout because almost nobody else here is playing this.
