The Milford Street Shakers revisits the meeting point of gospel, jazz, rhythm and blues, soul and Motown. Frontwoman Mia Matthiessen leads a large WA band with strong vocals, a full rhythm section and prominent horns. The group can appear as a 7 piece with saxophone and trumpet, grow to its established 11 piece format, or add strings for the 15 piece Soulphonic orchestra. Songs such as Stop! In the Name of Love, Dancing in the Street and Ain't Too Proud to Beg point to the era and energy of the set. This is feature entertainment made for dancing, with the visual polish and musical scale of a full stage band.
