About this act
Ten players, five of them horns, doing swing and big band the way it was written. The WellSwung Daddies transcribe their arrangements straight from the original recordings, then pick the ones that work for a modern dance floor: swing, jive, rock and roll, lindy hop and jazz, with a few originals of their own. Male and female vocals, double bass, guitar, piano and drums fill out the rest. Based in Byron Bay, they've built a following among swing and rock and roll dancers up and down the coast, playing the Beach Hotel and The Rails in Byron, Sanctuary Cove, corporate awards nights at the Cex Club in Coffs Harbour, and the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride at the Morrison Hotel in Brisbane. Think Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Louis Jordan, Count Basie and Ray Charles as the reference points. The band is insured.
