Tim Scanlan & Mana Okubo

Tim Scanlan works as a one man band, and Mana Okubo plays fiddle with Japan's John John Festival. Together they put ancient tunes and drones against modern beats, and the range runs from acoustic singalong chants right up to huge kick-drum dance tunes with fiddle flying over bass drones. They have played the Interceltique Festival in France, Vancouver Folk Festival in Canada, Morimichi-Ichiba in Japan and Electric Picnic in Ireland. A midnight club slot in Tokyo or a Sunday afternoon at a cafe near Bonnie Doon both work. Songs for travelling, tunes for dancing.
