Here's an idea you don't hear often: take a Russian song and an English song that share a tune or a theme, and fold them into each other. That's what Trali-Vali do, and they clearly enjoy it. The Melbourne band moves through pop, rock and roll, folk, country and disco, played on guitar, balalaika, keyboard and percussion. Down Under, Putting On The Ritz, Highway To Hell, Rasputin, Those Were The Days and Bad Romance all turn up, twisted together with Russian folk and pop. They can run a dance party too, with their own MC. Street festivals, cultural events, private parties and weddings that want a bit of Slavic flavour. They hold public liability insurance.
