T’s Trio

Brazil and Cuba provide the musical map for T's Trio. At the keyboard is Thierryno Gangou, supported by drummer Vince Pavitt and bassist Sarah Clare. Jobim compositions, early Cuban songs and jazz standards form the repertoire, while bossa nova, samba, cha-cha, rhumba and zouk shape the rhythm. The lack of a front-line singer keeps attention on the interaction between keys, bass and drums. It can work as social music, but there's enough detail in the playing for guests who want to listen closely. The trio offers a clear alternative to standard jazz background sets, using familiar jazz language while keeping its focus on Caribbean and Brazilian forms.
